Winged 600 Sprints Debut This Wednesday, 7/17

It is a well known fact that the Hyper Racing EVO Injection 600 Sprints present some of the wildest, insanely competitive racing each and every week at Championship Energy Action Track USA on the Kutztown Fairgrounds. And they do so in non-wing fashion. Last Wednesday’s 600 Sprint feature provides an excellent example of the incredible brand of motorized mayhem produced by the division as three wheel-twisters fought tooth-and-nail for the win in a race that went right down to the fourth turn of the final lap.

But there’s always been a question…a curiosity, if you will…regarding a winged race at the Berks County oval. Several competitors feel it would be (at least) as good as the non-wing version that fans crave. Brian Carber, who won the very first 600 sprint main at Action Track USA in 2013, has lobbied for a winged 600 event at the speedway since his first triumph more than six years ago. Well, it’s time to find out if the optimistic predictions are accurate…

This Wednesday, July 17, the 600’s will race with wings bolted to the top of their roll cages. A banner field is expected for this first-of-its-kind event as the ground-pounding 600cc fire breathers battle in qualifying heats, last-chance qualifiers, and a 25-lap feature in the event sponsored by Gable’s Service Center.

Joining the winged warriors on Wednesday will be the USAC All Pro SpeedSTRs, All Star Slingshots, and the very first Action Track USA appearance of the Restricted 600 Sprints.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and grandstand ticket booths open up at 5:00. Warm-ups begin at 6:15 and the qualifying events go green right after the hot lap sessions.
