Storm brings early end to Kutztown track debut

A quick-moving thunderstorm put an early end to the Goldie Meitzler Memorial season opener Wednesday night at JeffreyHogueRealtor.com Action Track USA.

Rain moved over the speedway, located on the Kutztown Fairgrounds, during the slingshot feature. The remaining two main events for the headline SpeedSTRs and 270cc micro-sprints were postponed as the 10:30 p.m. curfew loomed.

Before the rain, a pair of qualifying heat races were contested for the star-studded SpeedSTR field. Freddie Rahmer of Salford, the son of sprint car ace Fred Rahmer; and New York State modified star Mike Mahaney were the winners.http://readingeagle.com/article.aspx?id=480360
